AXIS MUNDI performance butoh
Megalithic structures such as stone circles or free-standing menhirs are considered sacred and magical places used to perform important rites and ceremonies, constituting a kind of Axis Mundi that connects the spheres of heaven, earth and the underworld, the present with the past. The characteristic and intricately planned structures of stone circles reflect ancient rituals and beliefs, including the wedding ritual of the Goddess and Heaven.
Axis mundi, from Latin , "cosmic axis", "world axis" - the idea of the center of the world , considered to be a stable element of the Universe .
The spectacle of the Universe raises two questions: what does man know? And how does he know this? ... Can the language of the beginning, the source, speak through the body, as one of the cognitive tools? Is Wholeness energy and nature movement?... (M. Jousse) Axis Mundi took me to the zone of the amazing Butoh is a search without ever knowing The Axis Mundi butoh performance was presented during the Night of Museums 2024 at the invitation of the Myślibórz Lake District Museum. The inspiration came from the symbolic and ritual space of megalithic buildings constituting a kind of axis of the universe - Axis Mundi. It was also an extraordinary opportunity to explore and implement an idea that appeared several years ago while participating in the project to develop the Eco-Museum network, when we visited the site of the megalithic tomb in Dolice. Being touched by the mystery of places, history, their energy creates in us New Places, New Space, New Worlds... or maybe in a magical time loop it restores those that are already in us...
