"Butoh" tablecloth
“This photo is very close and special to me. Found a few years ago in a family album. Tiny, yet filled with Family and Life, black and white, with them at a table with a tablecloth, somewhere in the garden...
However, before I found them, I was accompanied by another family, another photo cut out from "Kresy" magazine. I put them in a frame and stared at them for years as if they were my own family. They were like doppelgängers of those I could only try to imagine. Because due to lack of photos, objects and even memories, we often adopt Others. But even those who are "our own" need to be welcomed in a special, personal way, transcending the distances of time and place. I meet them dancing butoh. Out of these longings, out of these loves, the performance "Houses of Presence. Anamnesis" was born, in which, among others, this photo was used. It has always been a kind of meta image for me, in which I saw all the other families at the same time.
And now, by embroidering them, Ewa gave "Them" another metaphysical dimension.
Thank you for the meeting.
