Twilight of abandoned cities

LIMEN BUTOH "Twilight of Abandoned Cities" Concept: Sylwia Hanff Butoh: Sylwia Hanff, Magdalena Jakubów, Marek Kowalski Music: Pierre Boeswillwald photos: Antos Grosch A performance inspired by the music of Pierre Boeswillwald and the film by Andrei Tarkowski "Stalker". The film tells the story of a post-apocalyptic world and an expedition led by Stalker into a closed area called "The Zone", which itself is something mystical, a sentient and thinking space to which the ordinary laws of physics do not apply. The center of the "Zone" is the "Room", which fulfills hidden wishes and unconscious desires. A stalker is someone who has the ability to cross the boundaries of what is unknown, dangerous and forbidden. He is a "yurodivy" - a "Holy fool", innocent in the eyes of God. Such "Zones" can be found in abandoned cities... The performance has a post-apocalyptic tone and refers to the fears of modern societies and existential questions. In the current situation - the war in Ukraine, it has acquired further specific references. The solo premiere took place in 2017 at the «En Chair et en Son» Festival in Le Cube near Paris. In the same year, the premiere of the ensemble version took place in Warsaw.
